Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

The classes within our Year Group this year are: Miss Phipps 2HP, Mrs Easden 2NE and 2BH with Miss Barton and Mrs Hughes.

Hello, and welcome to Year 2! We are the second year group in Key Stage One. As with the other year groups, life in Year 2 is extremely busy, where we are always on the go and learning lots of new skills. It is a great place to be!

Along with the teachers designing exciting and relevant lessons, we are allowing the children to take control of their learning more this year. We will use them to guide learning through their questions and interests.

WELCOME TO THE SUMMER TERM!

We are all very excited about our new topic for Summer 2024:

The Great Explorers

We will be starting our journey by continuing to learn about Charles Darwin and the amazing work he did on The Galapagos Islands, in particular how animals are adapted to suit their environment.

As we are continuing our work in geography, we will look into more depth about The Galapagos Islands and answer and the question: Would you rather live in The Galapagos Islands or Redditch?

We will then move onto our Science learning focus which will grow on our knowledge of the amazing things that Charles Darwin discovered. We will use this new learning and understanding to help us think about and discuss: Can all animals survive in every habitat?

After this in Summer 2, we will be looking at the Titanic and it's amazing place in History. This will help us to think about opinions for the question: Should everyone have been treated the same aboard the Titanic?

Make sure you check our 'Learning Journey' tab to find out what we will be getting up to!

Please remember...

If you have any concerns regarding your child, please feel free to contact your class teacher through the Arbor. If you feel that the matter has not been resolved please contact Miss Phipps, who is the Year 2 Leader.
