Welcome to Year 2!

The classes within our Year Group this year are: Miss Phipps 2HP, Mrs Easden 2NE and 2CG with Miss Goddard.

Hello, and welcome to Year 2! We are the second year group in Key Stage One. As with the other year groups, life in Year 2 is extremely busy, where we are always on the go and learning lots of new skills. It is a great place to be!

WELCOME TO THE SPRING TERM!

We are all very excited about being back after our Christmas break, and our topic for Spring 2025 is:

All Aboard!

We will be starting our journey by building on our Autumn Term learning about the Victorian Era. By staying in this time period, we are going to be learning all about Victorian transport and how it changed over time. We will be learning about George Stephenson and his amazing invention, The Rocket.

 

In Design Technology, we will be focusing on axles and wheels being parts of a moving toy, which will link to our History learning. The children will have the opportunity to design, create and evaluate their own Victorian transport.

 

As we continue our learning journey in Geography, we will focus on a village close to us, Hanbury. Through research and observations, we will look at the human and physical features whilst also thinking about how the way of life in this area may differ too. 

 

In Science, we will be focusing on animals, before moving onto plants. We will be looking at what animals and plants need to survive, and have the chance to grow our own broad beans!
