I'm Claire Turton and I lead learning in music at The Vaynor.

At The Vaynor we have established a music curriculum which inspires our children to develop a love and passion for music through singing, listening, composing and performing. By using the teaching and learning platform ‘Charanga’, children are provided with ample opportunities to find their inner musician. With the repetition of key curricular content and the gradual introduction of new ideas, methods and concepts, The Vaynor’s approach to teaching music enables our children  to release their colours of imagination through sound. Every year group learns about music from different cultures and genres through extensive listening and appraising opportunities. Children’s independence grows through being provided with space for exploration and improvisation. Once the children feel they have chosen components that serve a clear purpose within their compositions, they are able to perform sublime creations to their teachers and peers and receive and provide constructed feedback, thus enabling them to develop their own creative potential.
