Religious Education (RE)

I'm Georgia Warman and I lead learning in Religious Education at The Vaynor.

At The Vaynor we have established a religious education curriculum which provokes challenging questions about meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about God, ultimate reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human. Pupils learn about religions and beliefs in local, national and global contexts, to discover, explore and consider different answers to their questions. Our curriculum develops children’s personal ability to understand who they are, who they want to become and how to achieve that through knowledge of religions, beliefs and cultures. This empowers children to have vision and strong personal beliefs and for them to understand that they have the right to be themselves. They study a range of religions and beliefs, enabling them to develop their ideas, values and identities. Pupils will understand how faiths and beliefs shape communities across the world, which is fundamental for children to have a wider perspective of their place in the world. As children progress through the school, they learn to articulate clearly and coherently their personal beliefs, ideas, values and experiences while respecting the right of others to differ.
