Admissions
As a member of the Endeavour School Trust and also an Academy, The Vaynor First School is its own Admissions Authority. Our admission policies for this year and subsequent years are available at the bottom of the page. All Admissions are coordinated by the Local Authority, so any application will need to be on the usual Worcestershire form which can be found by following this link http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/cms/school-information/school-admissions.aspx. There is an online application system. Parents are strongly advised to read the Information for Parents booklet which is available through the website above. We can take up to 90 children in each year group, with 30 being the maximum in each class.
Would you like to enrol your child?
Parents can apply for a place at The Vaynor during the Autumn Term for children who will be 5 between 1st September - 31st August. The closing date for applications for Autumn is 15th January each year. You are very welcome to come and view the school. We encourage parents to do this via our yearly Open Evening and Open Mornings across the Autumn Term as follows:
To be confirmed
or please contact the School Office for more details. Once the decision has been made to enrol your child, the Worcestershire Guidelines on Admissions need to be followed. If you have any queries do not hesitate to contact Ms Natalie Chandler in the school office.
Joining The Vaynor in Reception
Notification of a successful application for pupils resident in Worcestershire will be sent out by the Local Authority on 17th April 2023. This will be sent directly to parents by the Pupil Admissions and Transfers Section, on behalf of the governing body of The Vaynor First School Academy. In the few cases where it may not be possible to offer a place at any of the preferences nominated on the application form, a place will be offered at the nearest school with available places.
The offer letter will include a slip on which you must accept or decline the place offered and this must be returned by the date specified in the offer letter.
For pupils not resident in Worcestershire, the offer or refusal letters will be sent directly to parents by the home LA*, even if it is for a school in Worcestershire.
Following this the school will contact parents with information about a parents meeting, usually held in June, together with the induction dates for the children. Classes are allocated following the completion of a Parents Questionnaire in order that their views may be taken account of in allocating classes. This ensures that children are with someone they may have been at pre-school with.
Joining The Vaynor in other Year Groups
Children do join us throughout the school year subject to spaces via the use of the process outlined in the Admissions Policy. We always make every effort to ensure they are welcomed, buddying them with existing pupils. We also monitor them as they settle to ensure there are no problems. Once the initial settling period has passed teachers use observations, assessments and any prior records from others schools to assess the child's ability to ensure consistent progress is achieved. Should parents have any concerns about how their child has settled, please talk to the class teacher.
If you do not have access to the internet, application Forms are available from the School, Local Worcestershire Hub or by request on Tel no: 01905 822700
*The parents of pupils resident outside Worcestershire, but who wish to apply for a place at any Worcestershire school, must complete an application form provided by the "home" LA. (The "home" LA is defined as the Local Authority relevant to the Child's home address). The "home" LA will ensure that the application details are passed onto Worcestershire LA for consideration in the allocation of school places.
This is to notify you that public consultation on the proposed admission arrangements for the 2024/25 academic year for Worcestershire schools is now open.
