Admissions

As an Academy,  The Vaynor First School has it's own Admissions Authority so please follow this link for our Admissions Policy.  However, all Admissions are coordinated by the Local Authority, so any application will need to be on the usual Worcestershire form which can be found by following this link http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/cms/school-information/school-admissions.aspx.  There is an online application system on this page. Parents are strongly advised to read the Information for Parents booklet which is available on the same page as the website above. (It is on the bottom of the page)  A copy of the book is also available to view in Schools, Libraries and at your Local Worcestershire Hub. We have places for up to 90 children in our Reception Classes.

Would you like to enrol your child?

You may apply for a place for your child at The Vaynor during the Autumn Term before the year they are due to start. You are very welcome to come and view the school.  We encourage parents to do this via our yearly Open Evenings/Days. If you are unable to attend an open evening/day, in some circumstances a prior appointment with the Headteacher can be made to show you around at other times.  Once the decision has been made to enrol your child, the Worcestershire Guidelines on Admissions need to be followed, which can be found on the tab above entitled 'Process'. However should you have any queries do not hesitate to contact Natalie Chandler in the school office.

Joining The Vaynor in Reception

Notification of a successful application will be sent to you by the Local Authority in April.  Following this the school will contact you with information about a parents meeting, usually held in June, together with the induction dates for the children.  Classes are allocated following the completion of a Parents Questionnaire in order that their views may be taken account of in allocating classes.  This ensures that children are with someone they may have been at pre-school with.

Joining The Vaynor in other Year Groups

Children do join us throughout the school year subject to spaces via the use of the process outlined in the  Admissions Policy.. We always make every effort to ensure they are welcomed, buddying them with existing pupils and checking on how they are settling. Once the initial settling period has passed, teachers use observations, assessments and any prior records from others schools to assess the child's ability to ensure consistent progress is achieved. Should parents have any concerns about how their child has settled, please talk to the class teacher.

The information below briefly explains:

If you do not have access to the internet Application Forms are available from the School, Local Worcestershire Hub or by request on Tel no: 01905 822700

The parents or carers of pupils resident outside Worcestershire, but who wish to apply for a place at any Worcestershire school, must complete an application form provided by the "home" LA. (The "home" LA is defined as the Local Authority relevant to the Child's home address).  The "home" LA will ensure that the application details are passed onto Worcestershire LA for consideration in the allocation of school places.

When are decisions made?

For pupils resident in Worcestershire, the offer letters will be posted on 16th April every year via email if parents have applied on-line or by second class postage.  They will be sent direct to parents, by the Pupil Admissions and Transfers Section, even if it is on behalf of the governing body of The Vaynor First School Academy. In the few cases, where it may not be possible to offer a place at any of the preferences nominated on the application form, a place will be offered at the nearest school with available places.

The offer letter will include an acceptance/decline slip which must be returned by the date specified in the offer letter.

For pupils not resident in Worcestershire, the offer or refusal letters will be sent direct to parents by the home LA, even if it is for a school in Worcestershire.
