At The Vaynor First School, we use NumBots and Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) to make practising key maths skills fun, engaging and motivating. NumBots helps children develop strong number sense and fluency in addition and subtraction, while TTRS supports rapid and accurate recall of multiplication and division facts.

Children begin using NumBots in Reception from the Spring Term. In Year 1, children use NumBots throughout the year, while Year 2 use it during the Autumn Term before progressing to Times Tables Rock Stars. Children continue to use TTRS throughout Key Stage 2, helping them build confidence and fluency with their times tables.

Children can practise both at school and at home, earning coins as they develop their skills. To celebrate their achievements, during our weekly KS2 assemblies, certificates are presented to the children who have earned the most coins that week. This friendly competition encourages regular practice and celebrates children's hard work and progress.
