Please take a look at our curriculum map to see what our current curriculum looks like.
If you have any concerns regarding your child, please feel free to contact your class teacher through the Arbor App. If you feel that the matter has not been resolved, please contact Miss Joshi who is our Key Stage Leader.
We look forward to working alongside you in partnership over the coming year.
Topic: The Vikings
In History this term, we are investigating the question: ‘How Should We Remember The Vikings?’ We will be investigating the origins of the Vikings and the reasons for their invasion of Britain. We will also be learning about Viking life and traditions and their infamous attack on Lindisfarne! Alongside this, the children will be developing their geographical skills by investigating the Scandinavian regions from which they came with a particular focus on the Norwegian town of Trondheim.
Maths
We are currently learning about fractions and decimals in maths. We will follow this with a unit on measurement including the measurement of time. If your child is unsure about how to tell the time, it would be an ideal ‘time’ to give them a little support at home prior to these lessons to boost their confidence in class.
Science: States of Matter
|
This term, once we have completed our animals and humans topic, the children will be investigating states of matter. This will include comparing and grouping materials together according to whether they are solids, liquids or gases and conducting some fun experiments to observe changes to materials during different processes. |
Art and DT
Linked to this topic, we will be creating stunning clay figureheads in Art and we will be baking Viking bread in DT!
PE
Our PE days are on Tuesdays and Fridays. The children will be covering athletics, tennis and rounders. As always, please make sure that children are prepared for PE by coming to school dressed in P.E kit, with hair tied up and earrings removed or provided with tape to cover earrings.
PSHE
Our Jigsaw lessons are focused on the areas of relationships and friends. This term we will be focusing on relationships and change, including to help the preparation of transitioning into life after Vaynor.
