Physical Education (PE)

I'm Dawn Duggan and I lead learning in physical education (PE) at The Vaynor.

At the Vaynor physical education (PE) plays a very important role in the development of our children. Through an enriched PE curriculum, a broad and wide range of after-school sport clubs and a varied competition programme, we aim to encourage a lifetime love of sport which inspires all children to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle and to reach their full potential. We promote PE values which enable the children to develop and demonstrate determination, passion, respect, honesty, self-belief and teamwork. We also, ensure that the children engage in a programme that encourages fitness, improves their core strength and teaches the children the rules of games. Alongside this, the children begin to recognise and describe how their bodies feel during exercise and understand the long-term benefits of physical activity. PE is an integral part of school practices allowing all children in the school to gain a sense of achievement and develop positive attitudes towards themselves and others.
