Computing

I’m Sophie Thomas and I lead learning in computing at The Vaynor.

At The Vaynor, we know that a high-quality computing education equips our children to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. We understand that computing can enhance learning across the curriculum and has deep links with our teaching of mathematics, science, and design and technology, providing insights into both natural and artificial systems. The core of our computing is computer science, in which our children are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge and understanding, our pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. Through this subject, we enable our children to become digitally literate. We give our children a firm foundation to express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in an ever-changing digital world.
