World Book Day 2019

Pupils at The Vaynor First School, in Redditch, have enjoyed a day of celebrating the love of reading. As part of World Book Day, staff and pupils dressed up as their favourite characters and enjoyed a themed day celebrating and encouraging reading for all.

The children were also tasked with either creating a book float or making characters using craft skills. The staff were overwhelmed by the response.  Mrs Hewings, Assistant Head, who is the Trust Strategic English Leader, told The Standard: “The children’s creations were so impressive from Reception all the way up to Year Four.  The children have worked so hard and with the support of their parents they’ve really all done themselves proud.  It was inspiring to listen to the children talk about their chosen story and how they had designed their Book Float or craft idea.” She added, “it was a fantastic project as it provided cross links in the curriculum between English and Art and Design.”
