Hello, and welcome to Year 2! We are the second year group in Key Stage One. As with the other year groups, life in Year 2 is extremely busy, where we are always on the go and learning lots of new skills. It is a great place to be!

WELCOME TO THE AUTUMN TERM!

We are all very excited about being back after our summer break and we are looking forward to getting to know the children joining us in Year 2 this year. Our first topic of this academic year is...

Vaynor or Victorian?

We will be focusing a lot on our History learning for this topic and thinking about life as a Victorian Child. We will be learning about when the Victorian Era was and how the monarchy links to our King now. We will be finding out facts about Queen Victoria too. After this, the children will have the opportunity to understand that life was very different for both rich and poor children, and how this shaped education for children in the Victorian Era.

The children will be able to take part in their very own 'Victorian Day' in school where they will be able to feel like Victorian children going to school. This immersive experience helps children to develop a real understanding of how much life has changed, especially education. Finally, they will use all of this learning to answer the question "Vaynor or Victorian?", explaining whether Vaynor school life or Victorian school life is better. I wonder what they'll choose...
